You do not need a human mediator and God DOES hear your prayers directly. But we are instructed (by him) to acknowledge that we can only come directly to him through the sacrifice Jesus made. Therefore we say "in the name of Jesus" because we have no standing before God otherwise. Jesus paved the way. It costs us nothing to acknowledge that.

That said, my days among formal religions are probably over. I've had my fill and left. God may direct me otherwise, but, of my own accord, I have no intention of returning to a FORMAL practice of RELIGION. I can only hope to keep my spiritual association with Almighty God intact through the practice of the principles laid before me.

Guy is making a copy by hand. An idea occurs to him. He makes a note of it in the margins. 30 years later, that text is now the best available, so the next copyist decides that the previous guy made a mistake and left something out … adding it back in in the margins. New guy, hoping to be helpful, tucks the marginalia in wherever it seems to fit best.

Drawing a blank on CASSE. Various dictionaries and movie databases. The closest "fit" I could find deals with a fictional character fighting aliens (space).

While that stands a 1:10,000,000 chance of being the correct lead, I think other eyes need to look at this, too.
