As far as I recall, they killed an earlier czar in the 1880s as well. (Around the same time they killed our own President Garfield in the USA.)
It's interesting how most Americans easily recall the assassinations of Lincoln and Kennedy, but far fewer than 50% of Americans could tell you about the assassinations of Garfield and McKinley.
