The problem is that though we may have confidence in "the Plan" the rest of the country is becoming more and more polarized. Those on the left relentlessly push division and gloating superiority. Those on the right are nearing the point where they have had enough. Eventually this WILL have to have public play or it will devolve into violence, and once that genie is out of the bottle all bets are off.

I'm in rural Texas so I don't have the perspective of the more suburban/urban areas. We are typically quite conservative–and I don't see a loss of that support–but the minority of liberals in the area are hyperpolarized and vocal (to their own detriment). Just looking at voting demographics I would assume that the cities are largely leftists that are also true believers in the Russia tripe. People here are seeing the attacks on Trump as an attack on them and are increasingly mumbling about a possible future purge that would need to happen. The plan is the best way to fix this and restore real law and order.
