If you like Firefox, go back to the version from 2015 or so and it will be fine, with the right addons. The fuckery started around then, IIRC,

I use disconnect on fuckfox old version, and simply don't see ads at all - just big blank stretches where they used to be. it doesn't load trackers or counters either…
opera runs on my semi-smart flipfone without issue.
I have stuck with firefox but not upgraded it since 2015 - and zero issues with chans. firefox with disconnect addon makes it load fast and ads don't display.
I tried Brave in 2016 - wasn't ready for primtime then, so stayed with dated firefox. runs on my airbook and on my G4 with MorphOS.
