I spend a fair amount of time in places that are exactly as you describe. I ALWAYS want to take photos of some of the things that are "the norm" to send to my pussy-hatted friends and family in the US! Oppression is not a guy with interesting hair who makes crass jokes.
Every time I see the word "nihilist", I think of "Omaha: the Movie".
There was some weirdo scene about "nihilist kick-boxers" and it's just really stuck in my mind.

Welp, when this place runs amok with endless rants about "jews", "muslims", "white dominance", "tarot", and all other kinds of crap, why would ANYONE talk about this?
Ex: The h-buzz called me this morning bc he heard something on a radio program and HE asked ME about "Q" and was like "Weird what the spin is, isn't it? Let's talk about it over dinner?" Keep in mind that I haven't mentioned anything specific to "Q" since ever.
And at first I was like "COOL!" and now I'm like "I feel awkward."
And just to be clear about what "I feel awkward" means in this marriage:
This guy has seen me crap my pants from laughing so hard.
I understand and know he would understand the threads in many directions - they can lead to truly interesting or useful places! (Most of our conversations beyond "Did the repair guy show up" or "Your mom called" start with "This may sound weird______", so I know he'll get that part of this thing.
It just seems like we're a bit overrun with the intentional misdirection.
Aaand I should probably have more trust in his own ability to see through that misdirection.
