CNN suspends Trump ally over sexual harassment allegations
Trump supporter Paris Dennard was suspended late Wednesday from his role as a CNN political commentator after reports he was fired from a university job over sexual harassment accusations.
"We are suspending Paris, effective immediately, while we look into the allegations," a CNN spokeswoman said in a statement.
The swift action follows a Washington Post report earlier Wednesday evening detailing how Dennard was dismissed in 2015 from Arizona State University, where he was the McCain Institute for International Leadership's events director, for making inappropriate comments and gestures toward women.
University investigators began in 2014 probing complaints made against Dennard by two women, concluding he had exhibited “serious misconduct.”
“I cannot comment on items I have never seen regarding allegations I still believe to be false,” Dennard told the Washington Post in an email, referring to ASU's internal report, despite being provided excerpts from the newspaper. “This is sadly another politically motivated attempt to besmirch my character, and shame me into silence for my support of President Trump and the GOP.”
