If this statement is part of the MAGA show, it doesn't reflect good on Trump to say he gave Sessions the nomination to one of the highest and most important jobs in govt only because he was an early supporter. Indicates that he thought Sessions would be a "puppet" and also that Trump didn't considered rewarding loyalty over desiring qualities like competency.
If Sessions really is doing a poor job, why wouldn't Trump say that he thought Sessions would be an impartial upholder of the law, but he failed.
