Patient doesn’t know their address or where they are

They have an inconsistent history or their story doesn’t match the injury that brought them to the ED

A controlling person, male or female, is with the patient

A minor comes in with a sexually transmitted disease

The patient has a tattoo that looks like branding — for example, it may say “Daddy,” or “Princess”
