i cant tell you how many times i got in fights with clients accountants ASSUMING they were honest and would explain discrepancies i discovered in my routine work (i did a lot of due diligence)

fucking look the other way they did and got paid huge fees

one of the most common tricks used is to have clients send a copy of EVERY communication to the lawyer so they can claim privilage

this is especially easy to do with IN HOUSE COUNSEL

even better when it is ALSO copied to outside attorney to buttress claim
