Yesterday the BBC was going on about the upcoming cover of the New Yorker. They were focused on the symbolism, in particular the idea that the hounds were still on a leash, which they came right out and said what the meaning of that was, but then alluded to the the one red sock and left the interpretation as open ended question. They also pointed out how the New Yorker has long been an pillar of US elite culture and thinking, and I would argue a platform used to communicate their symbolism with the desired affect of meme magic.

 

It seems to me that they are both communicating something they feel is very important given they are pulling in outside press coverage as well as probably sending a threat to Trump.
