LePage hospitalized after ‘experiencing discomfort’
Gov. Paul LePage was taken by ambulance to a Bangor hospital after “experiencing discomfort” Saturday while visiting family in New Brunswick, a gubernatorial spokesman said Sunday.
LePage arrived at Eastern Maine Medical Center at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, according to his communications director, Peter Steele. He was held overnight and was “resting comfortably” Sunday afternoon.
“Doctors said he is very strong and healthy,” Steele said in a statement. “But they are keeping him in the hospital overnight for further observation. The Governor is stable and is expected to make a full recovery.”
No details were given about the nature of his discomfort.
Accompanied by his wife, Ann, LePage, he first went to a New Brunswick hospital. After a thorough examination, Steele said, the governor, who was “in good spirits,” was then taken by ambulance to a facility in Presque Isle and eventually to EMMC.
