Five States Win $839 Million Lawsuit Against Obamacare Program’s Unconstitutional Tax on States
The Affordable Care Act (ACA), better known as Obamacare, requires medical providers to pay a Health Insurance Provider Fee, even though the ACA exempts states from paying that fee when providing health care. The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) during the Obama era created a regulation requiring states to pay the fee anyway, a fee that is styled as a tax on the states. Texas sued in federal court and was joined by Indiana, Nebraska, Kansas, and Louisiana- the states were awarded a total of $839 million. The mainstream media is ignoring this story because it supports President Trump’s contention that parts of Obamacare are illegal and should be repealed.

General Mills Removes ‘100% Natural’ Label from Nature Valley Granola Bars after Glyphosate Lawsuit
Three U.S. NGOs jointly announced Thursday that they have resolved a consumer-protection action filed by the groups against General Mills in 2016, concerning General Mills’ labeling of its Nature Valley Granola Bars as “Made with 100% Natural Whole Grain Oats.”
The complaint stated that the granola bars, which carry the label “Made with 100% Natural Whole Grain Oats,” contain glyphosate, the world’s most used weedkiller and known carcinogen.
According to the complaint, tests from an independent laboratory found the level of glyphosate in Nature Valley Granola Bars was 450 parts per billion (ppb).
“No reasonable consumer, seeing these representations, would expect that the oats or any ingredients in the Products to contain something that is unnatural,” an excerpt of the complaint read.
The NGOs, which were represented by Brooklyn, N.Y- and Washington, D.C-based Richman Law Group, were able to resolve the claims without going to trial. At a time specified by the agreement, packaging for General Mills Nature Valley Granola bars will no longer bear the term “100% Natural Whole Grain Oats.”
General Mills spokesman Mike Siemienas said the company chose to settle to “avoid the cost and distraction of litigation”.
The complaint was filed by three NGOs: The Organic Consumers Association, Moms Across America and Beyond Pesticides.
“Agreements like the one with General Mills is just the first step,” Katherine Paul, Associate Director of the Organic Consumers Association, said in a statement. “We still have to push for a long-term solution to the problem of using the word ‘natural’ in ways that mislead consumers.”

Breaking: Syrian air defenses reported;y placed on highest alert
BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:30 P.M.) – The Syrian air defenses have been placed on highest alert across the country, pro-government reporters claimed this afternoon.
These reports seem to have some truth behind them because a source at the Mezzeh Airbase said that they have been ordered to make preparations for a possible attack on Damascus.
The reason for placing the air defenses on the highest alert was not revealed; however, it is believed to be due to the potential threat of a U.S. strike on the capital or its surrounding area.
Earlier this week, the Russian Ministry of Defense accused the U.S. and its allies of making preparations to attack Syria.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said that the rebels in Idlib are preparing to launch a chemical weapons attack and blame it on the government.
They said the U.S. will use this chemical weapons attack to launch strikes against the government.

Ukrainian Consultant Reveals Steele Sought Bogus Stories for Trump Dossier
A Ukrainian political consultant has revealed to Sputnik that former MI6 agent Michael Steele sought and paid for researchers in Ukraine to concoct fake stories about Donald Trump prior his election as US president to use in the now-infamous dossier that supposedly contained damning evidence of Russia-Trump collusion.
Radio Sputnik's Lee Stranahan spoke previously with Ukrainian political consultant and former diplomat Andrii Telizhenko about his connections to a Democratic National Committee (DNC) operative named Alexandra Chalupa who also worked for clients in Ukrainian politics. Chalupa told Politico in January 2017 that beginning in 2015, she pulled on a network of sources she'd established in Kiev and Washington to try and turn up dirt on Trump, once his star began to rise in the Republican primary campaign.
"I felt there was a Russia connection," Chalupa told Politico in January 2017.
Those talks led to other revelations by Telizhenko about further shady business between paid Ukrainian researchers and the DNC. Telizhenko disclosed this information to Stranahan in an interview; the recording of that interview was played on-air during Radio Sputnik's Fault Lines program Monday by Stranahan, who cohosts the show with Garland Nixon.

US Brings More Cruise Missile Carriers To Middle East, Syrian Air Defense Prepare To Repel Strikes
The US has been building a group of cruise missile carriers in the Middle East for strikes against government forces in Syria, which would be justified by a pre-planned provocation involving the use of chemical weapons in the province of Idlib, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov told the media on August 27.
“The United States keeps building up the cruise missile carriers group in the Middle East as part of preparations for another provocation in Idlib Province to be presented as an alleged use of chemical weapons,” Konashenkov said.
Konashenkov noted that “these preparations are fresh confirmation of US intentions to use as a pretext a likely simulation of the government forces’ chemical attack, which Hayat Tahrir al-Sham [formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda] militants are plotting with active support from British secret services.”

CA Gov. Jerry Brown Pardons Anti-ICE Activist Facing Deportation
Governor Jerry Brown has pardoned an anti-ICE activist facing deportation who helped advance the effort to turn California into a so-called "sanctuary state."
Phal Sok was among three Cambodian refugees with criminal records who recently had their past crimes absolved by the state’s top executive. Although Sok has been lawfully present in this country since his arrival in the early 1980s, his rap sheet included three felony convictions that made him a deportation target.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the pardons “wipe the crimes off the California Department of Justice and FBI books.”
Brown said Sok is currently under removal proceedings. However, the pardon could eliminate the federal government’s justification for deporting him.

Sok came to the U.S. at three months old and has lived in the United States legally for 37 years. He was convicted and sentenced in Los Angeles County in 2000 for robbery with the use of a firearm, according to the Governor’s Office. He served 15 years in prison and was discharged in August 2017.
Brown said he works at a nonprofit “dedicated to criminal justice reform,” adding that those who know Sok describe him as a “tireless advocate for immigrants, particularly refugee children and youth,” and a “true American.”
Sok says he was released from an immigration detention facility last year after “the community” paid his bond. Since then, he became an organizer for the Youth Justice Coalition (YJC). The Los Angeles-based group routinely aligns with Black Lives Matter, the ACLU, and California Democratic lawmakers seeking to reform the state’s criminal justice system, oftentimes while impeding federal immigration enforcement. Sok spoke at rallies promoting the passage of the ‘sanctuary state’ bill – also known as the California Values Act - which Gov. Brown would sign into law last October.

Russian Military Warns of an Impending ‘False Flag’ Chemical Attack in Syria
For several days, Russian media has been reporting that the nation’s military has information on a ‘false flag’ chemical weapon attack set to take place in Syria in the coming days.
The Russian Defense Ministry claims that a staged chlorine attack by the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham militant group, previously known as Al-Nusra Front, in the Idlib governorate is going to be used to justify US strikes in Syria.

The ministry said in a statement that the jihadists are going to “stage decontamination of victims of a staged chemical weapons attack posing as members of the notorious White Helmets group.”
RT reports that the Russian MoD noted the deployment to the Mediterranean last weekend of the missile destroyer USS Ross carrying 28 Tomahawk cruise missiles on board. It came after a similar move of the USS The Sullivans to the Persian Gulf and the rebasing of a B-1B Lancer strategic bomber to an air base in Qatar. The Russian ministry said the “preparations are the latest evidence of the US intention to use the” expected provocation.
The jihadists that arrived in Shughur were reportedly trained in using chemical weapons by the British private military contractor the Olive Group.
“The implementation of this provocation, which is being conducted with the assistance of the British intelligence services, is meant to serve as the latest pretext for the US, Britain and France to deliver a missile strike against state and economic facilities in Syria,” said General Igor Konashenkov, spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry.
