Omidyar was born in Paris, the son of Iranian parents who migrated to France for higher education. He was given the name of Parviz.
His father, Cyrus Omidyar, is a surgeon who worked as a urologist at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and now practices in Aliso Viejo (age 85), California. Due to his father's work, the family moved to the US when Omidyar was a child.
His mother, who did her doctorate in linguistics at the Sorbonne, is an academic.
His interest in computers began while he was a ninth-grade student at The Potomac School in McLean, Virginia, where he spent most of early life.
He wrote code at age 28 for online auction and became a millionaire at age 36.
Since selling in 2008 Ebay, with the assistance of Meg Whitman, he and his wife Pam focus solely on Philanthropic work and their charity, Omidyar NETWORK ( I think [NETWORK] is a key word)
He partners with Soros’ Open Society Foundation, which is UKRANIAN. One of their goals is to secure digital identities for people in third world countries.
He also funds HUMANITY UNITED RUN BY RANDY NEWCOMB, who also leads the HUMAN TRAFFICKING DIVISION OF THE MCCAIN INSTITUTE.
He and his wife, Pam, currently live in Hawaii with their kids.
Pierre went to school in Hawaii for two years, where he met his wife.
Omidyar attended eighth and ninth grades at Punahou School. He arrived at Punahou the year after Barack Obama graduated from the Manoa private school. Along with the president, another famous Punahou alum is AOL co-founder Steve Case, who graduated in 1976.
They both did live in Henderson, Nevada for years, and still own property there.
In addition to his Kahala home and Nevada mansion, Omidyar owns a 640-acre ranch in Montana, a home in southern California and a residence on an island off the coast of France.
The Billings Reed Point Ranch would serve as his safehouse in case of a disaster.
He owns SKY RIVER MANAGEMENT, LLC in HendersonNevada called, which is a FOOD STORAGE BUSINESS.
He was sued in Hawai'i Circuit Court in February by Jack Picardy, a former employee, who accused Omidyar of wrongful dismissal. Picardy, a former U.S. State Department official in Australia, said he moved to Hawai'i to work for Omidyar and was fired after five days on the job.
Picardy also said Omidyar used his jet to fly people to Syria for meetings with the Palestinian political group Hamas.
