Why would someone leak something? Well, if it is a single person orchestrating leaks, that person is either a white hat or black hat. Lots of possible reasons I can think of:

black hat

• poison evidence or influence potential juror choices

• stall release of Mueller report either to Congress or public (prior to grand jury indictment [there was a story on this from Sara A Carter in a previous notable)

• cue witness to coordinate narratives among conspirators, or avoid information appearing to come from a particular source (eliminate surprise, make it public knowledge)

• spin the narrative (presuasion, disinfo)

white hat

• advance the PLAN by seeding awareness selectively

• signal questioners in congress what to ask, and give them cover for knowing things they shouldn't

• parallel construction

• presuasion

• influencing ECOA before an information battle
