It reminded me of an episode of a sco-fi show called Orville, whereby an entire planet is governed in a complete democracy and everyone has a button, red & green comparatively that corresponds to their social approval rating.
The sick thing about that episode is if your "rating" is too low, you become an outcast and are shunned.
