I grew up in the 60's and 70's. Not telling anyone that the Sun may have appeared more yellow.

Just want to say that we who grew up near big cities may remember smog alerts and school days when we were told we could not play at recess those days.

Just throwing this out there. I am from an area where smog was common. The cars of the 60s and 70s had no smog devices. Smog devices started around 1976 from my memory.

Could it be that your memories are correct and also that there are less particulates in the air these days? Most of those old cars are off the road now. I even recall they had some kind of government buy back of old cars.

Less particulates in the air maybe?

When there is a forest fire in my area the Sun does appear orange but using the power of observation, with a definite known cause for the phenomenon, I am led to believe that the admitted abundance of paricles has caused the Sun to yellow and then turn orange and that less particles means less yellow color if the Sun.
