Kirk prevented Edith Keeler from being killed when he arrived

She is huge peace activist. She spreads pacifism instead of War and her movement causes the Nazis to not become defeated

Teaches people to not fight for their freedom

Kirk has to reappear and let her die and he does

I keep seeing that image in my mind of that episode seeing the Nazis on the TV
