self control and setting boundaries and goals for ourselves is one of the hardest, if not THE hardest thing to accomplish. If they have never been taught this, then it isn't so much their fault as their parents. At some point, they need to work on this themselves and quit claiming victim-hood.
I agree with you to a point. They were not taught by parents and certainly not by their teachers.
