Holt McDougal Modern World History (2012 edition). Just starting review, but:
ch. 14 Revolution and Nationalism paints the Czars and Romanovs as massive oppressors of the people, and the revolutionaries as people like Gandhi, but who prefer force. At head of chapter is "Interact with history" which asks, "how do you resist oppressive rule–with violent or nonviolent action?" THIS IS THE FRAME OF THE WHOLE BOLSHEVIK REVOLUTION. So much social justice victory. OK, so then Stalin becomes a study in a dictator, and there follows a whole study in totalitarianism, but still, Comrades for social justice against the wicked, wicked Tsars.
