Having said that, those books painted a vivid picture in the mind. They were more even handed. They presented consistent arguments that a person could spend hours digesting. Above all, whether or not one agreed with the author on this or that specific issue, a certain bedrock morality provided the context for the words. Certain things were understood by all as being unquestionably true, with much less moral relativism resulting. There was a baseline, a bedrock of universal understanding, a clear delineation of good vs. evil.
