So this is eye opening.

In pursuit of Q's examine history books, I asked my 11 year old daughter to bring home her history book for me to look at tomorrow.

She had no idea what I was talking about. None. My wife tried helping and she got a crazy-eyed stare when she tried another tack and asked her if her teacher ever asks the class to get out their 'text books' and turn to page xyz.

And the crazy part is my family is pretty solidly well-off, and the school district my kids are in is, if not 'the' best in our metro area, it's pretty high up there.

What the hell happened since the mid 90s and I graduated…

not the case in grade/middle/high school - at least not my my part of the country.

They're signed out in the first couple days of the year and no need to pay unless one is lost or damaged.

yeah no kidding

My guess is the reason I hadn't noticed is because my wife and I spend a considerable amount of time actually teaching our kids things ourselves, starting when they're old enough to speak.

My 5 year old can already read and do basic addition/subtraction - for ex.

>sauce it if you can

This is where people startin getting 'stupid' with demanding 'sauce' for everything. Multiple people saw it live and it'll be posted on youtube in an hour or so (if not already)

Get off your lazy ass and/or quit distracting.
