After convening a meeting at his nonprofit to discuss helping African nations, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair headed to a series of high-powered meetings in the Hamptons.
He was spotted Friday at Babette’s in East Hampton — a favorite of Bill Clinton’s — dressed like a weekending world leader, in a smart beige blazer, a crisp white shirt and casual blue pants, surrounded by security.
An onlooker said, “Blair set himself up and took a series of meetings back-to-back. He was accompanied by a small [security] detail and bought smoothies for the agents and himself.”
Earlier this year, his Tony Blair Institute for Global Change inked an $11.6 million “not-for-profit” deal with the Saudi government to advise on the nation’s “modernization and reform.”
Last week, staff from 14 countries met with Blair to discuss “supporting Africa’s transformation,” the institute posted on Twitter.
Blair’s office did not return requests for comment about what transformation could come from his Hamptons meetings.
