In Genesis, Noah is talked about as having great faith and obedience to God. And his fellow citizens are described as debauchers who turned into complete sin and evil frolics of all kind.
I reasoned from that and other parts in Genesis that Noah and his family came to know God from some very good sources, such as a preflood Bible of sorts.
Same with Abraham. Another more or less average ordinary man but yet he just drops all of his business and decides to pack his bags and leave his family, his "homeland". There had to be some significant source of oral stories, traditions and even written material that allowed for transmission of stories about God, importance of love and faith and belief from generation to generation to result in such obedient and faithful behavior.
