One guy in the band had contacts in the Netherlands.
Local Radio station picks up their one single.
Band tours Europe (via Netherlands connection)
By the time they get back Island Records and Capitol both want to book them & the band plays a big show in New York City.
Immediately after signing things go sideways bad for one band member, Rob Lightbody.
He screws up royally in the NY show, then hits on some woman in a bar who 'happens to be' from Capitol records. (? uh, that's a hella coincidence)
Anyway the band survived but barely. Capitol royally screwed them over in almost every way.
A guy made a documentary about them called Gangrene and couldn't even get the one band member to show up for an interview (Lightbody)
I an't find a photo of Lightbody anywhere either.
