BLUNT Statement?

Agency’s West Lake Announcement

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) released the following statement after the Environmental Protection Agency announced its plan for the remediation of the West Lake landfill:

“West Lake families have been tireless advocates for the health and safety of their children and community. They should not have had to wait 27 years for a plan to clean up the site, especially when they were promised action under the previous administration. I thank Administrator Pruitt for making West Lake a priority and moving quickly to offer a plan to clean up the site. Families living near West Lake will now have an opportunity to review the proposal and make their voices heard. I will continue listening to them and working with the administration on a path forward that gives families the peace of mind they deserve.”

So I looked around at West Lake landfill. EPA clean-up site………they have a FIRE barrier there, radioactive waste, ect….If I had to bury something it would be there. It's going to get worked on soon. ANYTHING?

He connected to the EPA Superfunds through the westlake landfill. INTERESTED PARTIES/STAKEHOLDERS

Numerous congressional, media, and community members have expressed a significant interest in the upcoming final remedy decision for the site, and many are seeking full excavation of the RIM.

Bipartisan legislation (S. 1211 and H.R. 2632) has been reintroduced in the U.S. Senate and House to transfer remediation authority and control of the cleanup to the USACE FUSRAP program. In November 2015, Missouri Senators Blunt and McCaskill and Missouri Representatives Wagner and Clay introduced similar bipartisan legislation that passed the Senate by unanimous consent in February 2016. The prior administration and the USACE did not support the legislation, based on the potential delay of the cleanup and financial impact on taxpayers.

Blunt on President Trump’s State of the Union Address: “It’s Been a Good Year for Missouri Families, But Our Work Is Far From Finished”

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) released the following statement after President Trump’s State of the Union Address:

“America has come a long way in the first year of the Trump administration. As the president made clear tonight, our economy is finally giving Americans a reason to be optimistic about their future, and the future of their kids and grandkids. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which marked the first major tax reform in more than three decades, has already benefited more than three million Americans who have received bonuses, wage increases, or enhanced benefits. Next month, the vast majority of U.S. workers will be taking home more money in their paycheck. Many of our nation’s largest employers have announced billions in new investments that will create good-paying jobs, fuel economic growth, and expand opportunity in the years ahead. On top of that, the president and Congress have eliminated hundreds of regulations that either weren’t needed or weren’t working, saving our economy billions.

“It’s been a good year for Missouri families, but our work is far from finished. I was glad to hear the president focus on the need to improve our outdated infrastructure. I look forward to working with him to ensure Missouri maintains its competitive advantage as a hub for our nation’s highways, railways, and waterways. The president also addressed the opioid epidemic that is destroying lives in our state and across the nation. I’ve been proud to lead efforts to increase funding for programs targeting the opioid crisis, and will continue working to ensure we have the resources and policies in place to help more people get the treatment they need. And, as a member of the Intelligence Committee, I hear all the time that we are facing more threats from more directions than ever before. The president and Congress’ most important responsibility is keeping Americans safe, and we will continue working together to make sure our men and women in uniform have what they need to carry out their missions.”
