Tulsa Union Depot[edit]

City planners immediately saw the fires as a fortuitous occurrence from their perspective with complete disregard for the welfare of the affected residents. Despite the best efforts of the Red Cross relief effort to assist with reconstruction of the residential area, the existing city layout and extensive redevelopment stands as proof to their limited success. plans were immediately formed for the rezoning of 'The Burned Area' for industrial use. Tulsa Union Depot construction began less than two years after the riot. At the time construction was already underway nearby for a smaller rail hub. In the aftermath of the fire land was made available to construct a large central rail depot which would connect three major railroads in the heart of Tulsa. Tulsa's main industry at the time were banking(BOK Financial Corporation), administration (PennWell, ONEOK) and engineering(Skelly Oil) for oil companies, earning the title of "Oil Capital of the World".
