They are our greatest ally in the ME and our countries are inexplicably linked. Think of how that info would damage that, the fight against Islamic Fundamentalism, religious relations, and with the large population of Jews (comparatively) in the US, National cohesion as well. Esp if people wanted war with Israel or revenge for crimes specific officials committed.
