It looks like it was just a tragic accident. Victims were a man, his wife, his sister, and brother in law, all from Ohio. Probably just headed for the beach for Labor Day weekend. People aren't aware of it much outside the Panhandle region, but Eglin AFB shares the runway with Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport.

Read a bit more, and found that the pilot's elderly father had died in February of this year. So sad for the family, so much loss in a short time. Look at this obit for the father, sounds like they were good folks.
