Typically Canon cameras store file names in the following format:

IMG_XXXX

Where IMG (as opposed to _MG) designates the sRGB colorspace (indicated by EXIF) and XXXX is the sequence number of the shot. Counter rolls at 9999.

YW. Keep in mind the prefix can be custom set by the user. In all my years of shooting I've never bothered… but never know. Either way, you should find file names in the format of:

%pref%_XXXX.CR2 (for RAW).
