2012 - Omar Benjamin, the executive director of the Port of Oakland, stepped down from his post Monday amid allegations that he used public money to entertain others at a strip club, CBS San Francisco reports.

Benjamin has been connected to a $4,500 bill at a strip club in Houston, Texas in 2008, the station reported. The bill was submitted for reimbursement by the port's maritime director, James Kwon.

An investigation revealed that Benjamin was at the strip club with Kwon, along with several shipping industry executives. Benjamin and Kwon were placed on administrative leave on October. Officials said Benjamin will not receive severance as part of his retirement package, according to CBS San Francisco.

Benjamin's retirement takes effect immediately. Acting executive director Deborah Flint will take over day-to-day operations and direct the port's key business plans, according to a statement by the Port of Oakland.
