Hi All,

Twitter's shadow banning has not gone away. It's just gotten stealthier.

I suspected that they might try this. I've run the open source shadowban.eu code on a local development server and it still includes QFD bans on many conservative names, just as it did before. At the same time, those names are not listed as QFD banned on shadowban.eu itself. They've either compromised the code on shadowban.eu (unlikely, but possible), or have implemented code like an IP whitelist that falsely reports no QFD ban when the request comes from one of shadowban.eu's IPs (IMO much more likely).

I suspect "Twitter Analytics" may give accurate counts FOR NOW. Compare these to see your true reach. However, keep in mind that Twitter displays those numbers. There is no way to verify that they are accurate. They'll be the next to be doctored.

A more accurate gauge of reach is the number of retweets and likes a particular post receives (by clicking on the number of likes/RTs below the tweet it will display a popup with a list of accounts that have taken those actions). However, unless you actually audit that they're being retweeted as they say (they can lie on those numbers too, you'd have to actually verify the list of people that has liked/RTed a particular tweet), they could start faking those numbers as well.

Just be aware: people that believe the banning has been lifted need to expand their thinking.
