Monsanto-Bayer: Eliminating The Name Will Not Erase The Criminal History

Cancelling out Monsanto’s name and keeping only that of Bayer, does not mean forgetting the wrongdoings of a company which, according to the verdict of the Monsanto Tribunal of The Hague, is stained with crimes of ecocide. With Bayer’s official takeover of Monsanto, the giant multinational also inherits its liabilities.

On the eve of the start of the integration process, Monsanto has been held liable for causing cancer through the use of its glyphosate-based weedkiller Roundup and ordered to pay $289 million of damages to the plaintiff Dewayne Lee Johnson in the first landmark case, settled in California in mid August 2018. The jury also found that Monsanto “acted with malice or oppression.”

According to Reuters, the number of lawsuits brought against Bayer’s newly acquired Monsanto is approximately 8000 in the US alone. UN experts Ms Hilal Elver, Special Rapporteur on the right to food and Mr. Dainius Pūras, Special Rapporteur on the right to physical and mental health, defined the ruling “a significant recognition of the human rights of victims, and the responsibilities of chemical companies.”

Revelations in reports published last year, most notably the “Monsanto Papers” and the “Poison Papers“, have shed light on strategies of big agrochemical groups to expand their empires: from lobbying, interference in government agencies’ proceedings, attacks in collusion with institutions on independent science, to mega mergers and acquisitions.

For the first time part of these documents were shown to a jury, which were able, among other things to also see that, “at least starting 20 years ago, Monsanto has known that their product can cause cancer, and has gone out of its way to ignore it and/or fight any science that suggests a link”, as declared to Democracy Now by Brent Wisner, the lead trial counsel for Dewayne Lee Johnson in his lawsuit against Monsanto. Added to this, in the same week, California’s Supreme Court rejected a challenge by Monsanto to the state’s decision to include glyphosate in its Proposition 65 list of carcinogens.

On other fronts, other lawsuits have been filed in the US by farmers’groups, and seed sellers are pushing environmental regulators to bar farmers from spraying dicamba weed killer, key ingredient of the new Monsanto-Bayer and Basf products, which has been causing drift-related crop injuries sweeping across rural America in the last 2 years; in Europe, the special committee on pesticides authorization process reacted to the US court’s decision by calling once again for a ban of glyphosate in the continent; in Sri Lanka, where a fatal chronic kidney disease (CKDu) has been linked to glyphosate use, a group formed by farmers’ organizations, scientists and affected families declared that they are ready to take Bayer/Monsanto and other glyphosate herbicide manufacturers to the Supreme Court.

Vietnam is also demanding compensation for victims of exposure to the Agent Orange, the chemical produced by Monsanto for the US military during the Vietnam War.

A clear signal of the fact that Monsanto’s past is set to haunt Bayer in spite of all efforts to eliminate the brand name, is that the week following the verdict, Bayer’s shares fell sharply, approximately by 10 – 12% ($12.5 Billion). It is interesting to note that the stock exchange, the very core of today’s globalized economy, seems to be quite unforgiving.

Homeless people at almost every L.A. landmark illustrates the depth of the problem

Where do you take visitors in Los Angeles? Wherever you go, you’re almost sure to encounter homeless people.

They are fixtures at almost every landmark, part of the landscape that defines the urban expanse.

According to a Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority report, the homeless count now stands at more than 53,000 in L.A. County alone. A drive through downtown, Hollywood, Mid-City and the beach communities reveals the breadth of the problem.

Although homeless numbers dipped slightly this year, the small reduction follows a seven-year, 75% surge in people living in shelters or on the street, making certain parts of the region virtual tent cities.

“Good people, do you know what’s happening here in L.A.? We are driving past — oh my God—we are driving past homeless people and we’re not seeing them. When that happens, that is the end of our humanity,” an impassioned L.A. City Council President Herb Wesson said during a recent, raucous council meeting at City Hall.

Jordan warns of ‘dangerous consequences’ after Palestinian refugee agency gets US funding cut

Jordan’s foreign minister has warned of "dangerous consequences to regional stability" if the Palestinian refugee agency UNRWA cannot provide services to refugees, saying he regrets the US decision to cut aid to the agency.

Speaking to Reuters on Saturday, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said that Amman regrets Washington's decision to cut funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), a decision that was announced by the US State Department on Friday. The move represents a major hit for the agency, as the US had long been its biggest donor.

Safadi added that jeopardizing the fate of the organization, which helps millions of refugees, will only fuel radicalism and harm prospects of Middle East peace.

The foreign minister also said that his country – which hosts over two million registered refugees – will continue to rally for donor support to help ease the financial strain that the agency is currently facing.

When announcing Washington's decision to cease funding for the agency, the State Department called it an "irredeemably flawed operation," stressing that the US would no longer "shoulder the very disproportionate share of the burden of UNRWA's costs."

Responding to the announcement, UNRWA spokesman Chris Gunness said the agency is disappointed by the move, calling it "all the more surprising given that UNRWA and the United States renewed a funding agreement in December 2017."

The move was slammed by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas as a "flagrant assault against the Palestinian people," while some Israeli officials hailed the move.

"I praise the decision of the president of the United States to halt all funding of UNRWA – the body that enshrines the Palestinian refugee problem," Israeli Intelligence Minister Israel Katz wrote on Twitter.

UNRWA, which began operations in 1950, assists some five million Palestinian refugees, according to its website.

Gregg Jarrett Predicts President Trump Will Declassify Russia Docs This Week (VIDEO)

On Saturday, FOX News legal analyst and attorney, Gregg Jarrett predicted President Trump will declassify the Russia docs this week in response to a Judicial Watch bombshell which revealed there was no FISA court hearings on the Carter Page warrants.

Jarrett also predicted the President will fire Attorney General Jeff Sessions after the midterm elections.

Conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch dropped a bombshell on Spygate Friday.

The Justice Department admitted in a court filing this week that the FISA court never held hearings on the FISA applications for former Trump advisor Carter Page.

One FISA warrant and three subsequent FISA renewals on Carter Page were obtained by Obama’s corrupt FBI in order to spy on Trump’s campaign.

Comey, Rosenstein, McCabe and Sally Yates all signed the FISA applications even though Hillary’s fraudulent Russia dossier was used as a pretext to obtain the warrants.

Trump’s ace card is a declassification order on all Carter Page FISA docs and other documents related to the Russia witch hunt.

AWOL AG Sessions needs to be replaced with a real Attorney General.

On Thursday, President Trump said Jeff Sessions is safe as Attorney General until at least the midterms.

In an Oval Office interview with Bloomberg reporter Jennifer Jacobs, the President said Sessions will remain AG until at least the midterms, however; he played coy when asked if Sessions is safe after the midterms.

“I would just love to have him do a great job,” Trump said of Sessions.

Top GOP Senators Grassley and Graham said they will both back President Trump if he fires AG Sessions after the 2018 midterm elections.

It’s going to be one hell of an Autumn in D.C.!

Shocking Dallas billboard targets black women, tells them abortions are ‘self-care’

Pro-life advocates are fuming over a new billboard along a Dallas highway that suggests black women should choose abortion because it’s “self-care.”

What does it say?

“Black women take care of their families by taking care of themselves,” the billboard states. “Abortion is self-care.”

The billboard is sponsored by a Dallas-based group called The Afiya Center. The center’s website states it is “Transforming the Lives of Black Women & Girls.”

Also according to its website, “Our mission is to serve Black women and girls by transforming their relationship with their sexual and reproductive health through addressing the consequences of reproduction oppression.”

An Afiya Center representative told CBN News the billboard was put up on Monday.

Pro-life advocates vented their anger about the ad by commenting about it on social media.

What are people saying?

“The abortion war against black women is so real,” former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson said on Facebook. “This is on a billboard in Dallas.”

Abortion statistics in the black community are high, and conservatives point to Margaret Sanger for pushing that agenda. Sanger is the founder of Planned Parenthood, which became the nation’s largest abortion provider.

According to Right to Life Michigan, the abortion rate for black women is almost four times that of white women in the U.S.

“On average, 900 Black babies are aborted every day in the United States. This tragedy continues to impact the population levels of African-Americans in the United States,” the Right to Life Michigan website states. It also points out that more than 19 million Black babies have been aborted since the 1973 Roe v. Wade U.S. Supreme Court decision made abortion legal.

Other stats:

36 percent of all abortions in the U.S. in 2014 were performed on black women, however, yet just 13.3 percent of the total population is black.

For every 1,000 live births, non-Hispanic black women had 391 abortions. For non-Hispanic white women, the rate was 120 abortions for every 1,000 live births.

“So for BLACK women, killing our offspring is like a day at the spa,” radio host Stacy Washington wrote on Twitter. “They don’t market this way to any other group.

@PlannedParenthood still operating on behalf of Margaret Sanger.”

1 Peter 5:8-9

Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.
