Deripaska has links with FBI in Iran (he financed a $25 m effort to free spy Levinson) going back at least til 2009. That particular mission was done with McCabe and Mueller.
I don’t find it totally outrageous that they wanted to recruit Deripaska, who has a frenemy type relationship with Putin. That doesn’t excuse them from all their crimes though.
