National Enquirer boss David Pecker isn’t just Donald Trump’s longtime pal and campaign confidant — he’s quietly lavished tens of thousands of dollars on Gov. Cuomo.
Pecker’s American Media Inc., company executives, employees and affiliates have donated at least $35,369 to the Democrat’s campaigns since October 2009, when the publishing giant held a 50-person fundraiser for him at posh Midtown restaurant Michael’s, according to state filings and an AMI spokesman.
Companies that have done business with AMI gave Cuomo another $25,000 at the time of the fundraiser, filings show.
Seven months later, and a week after then-state Attorney General Cuomo announced his second run for governor, Pecker’s supermarket tabloid gushed he was “New York’s most eligible bachelor.”
