No Greer was not Muslim in the books. I would have remembered the tidbit for sure (read all the Jack Ryan books when they came out).
Nowadays it is required to do right by Muslims and gays for any Hollywood production.
I watched the 1st episode tonight and agree it is good. We'll just have to wait to see who the gay character is. It will probably not be a minor character.
