Irish Royal Arch Mason from the Irish Constitution here. That ritual must be Scottish or York Rite … not familiar with either, never been, but there are a lot of similarities and a lot of differences between this working and mine. Thanks to the OP for posting.

I concur with you. Now I've woken, I can see the symbolism, and will admit that the order seems to have a lot of shady connections and evil connected to it, but it's structure is cell-like and the majority of Masons would have the evil purged if they were aware of it. Other than that, we spend most of our time collecting funds for charity and arguing over what to have for dinner.

"If emergency responders are all masons of Nth degree" …. in 15 years, and meeting 1000's of Masons … I've never met more than one EMT and he was retired. Also only met a handful of doctors or medical staff. Maybe it's different from country to country, but by my experience, the more successful you are in life, the more likely you are to rise. Just an FYI. The easiest way to leave masonry, is to stop paying your dues! If you want to go to the bother, you can simply send a letter saying "I quit." I've met a lot of people who thought that if you join, you can never leave.
