Human beings are story tellers, meaning making is essential to the human condition. We would not be able to function if we could not classify, group, and assign meaning to the effects we observe in the world.
Everything that is labelled, defined, assigned meaning, is of our own doing. We make things mean something.
Of cousre they arise from actual experience, and record keeping over time, allows for ‘standardization’ (for lack of a better word right now) of a label, symbol, or idea.
How an experience is translated by humans from their experience, is also contingent of one’s life conditions, past experiences, culture, sharing of ideas, group think…etc there is a lot that goes into. What you consider ugly, someone from a different life condition, culture, and accumulation of different experiences may consider beautiful, and vice versa.
The human condition is universal and unique to each individual.
