Anon, the term Alcoholic is a terrible description for what can be a simple biological anomaly or allergy if you will. Jordan Peterson explained it better than anyone I have ever heard….If you drink alcohol and you get a phyisological/psychological response which includes increase is basal metabolism, increased heart rate, and instead of sedation more elation (stimulant like effect) you have a chemical reaction to alcohol that is not the norm. This would make the term Alcoholic seems a little negative.
-
Do you have and have you always had a higher tolerance than your friends?
2 Does drinking make you stay up with sedation only kicking in when you stop at the end of the night?
-
Do you wake up early (wide awake) and want to have a drink?

This does not get better, I accepted the term Alcoholic and just kept drinking but one day the alcohol stopped working and I kept having to user more and more and lost my job (did not care) almost lost my kids (could not stop) and spent a little time in jail (Was looking at 2 years prison) got probation.
This did force me to quit, with the threat of prison and and a ankle bracelet that detected alcohol.
So this is where the story got weird, 2 years sober, tried to catch a light buzz with a few beers, then drank a bottle of Vodka…no positive effects, no elation just anxiety and flue like symptoms the next day. Its your body chemistry, but continued addiction can lead to personality family problems, legal problem, income problems and is it really worth it for a liquid solvent.
Its easy to quit, you just have to change your whole life.
