In Alice, the white rabbit attracts the attention of an innocent young girl, down into a rabbit hole of fantastical irréalisme. A world of metaphor and imagery that causes one to experience seeing as “first seen”, like a baby seeing a cat for the first time, like a toddler touching a hot stove for the first time, she is seeing the unknown for the first time and is just open to the experience of discovery. Do we remember what those initial experiences were when we saw cat for the first time? Saw a butterfly for the first time? Burned our finger for the first time? Rather then fear things, she transcends the fantastical realms with curiosity, wonder, and dry British humour.

The white rabbits just point the way, and remind you what time it is. They are your parents, your teachers, your gurus, your guides.

That’s how I interpret the mimsy of Alice.
