My pop died in 1999 from that awful cancer Mesothelioma that I believe was known to his employer (large pharma manufacturer) and he was exposed for many years.
Anyway he used to double speak, metaphorically almost.
Two things he used to always say:
"Promises were meant to be broken" and "Do as I say not as I do".
This annoyed me in my younger years but perhaps this was his way of telling me about the world. He didn't speak to me about himself he was always reliable and tried to live like he believed but I always found these two statements troublesome. Seems to apply to the world in my opinion.
