There are people (women and men) who focus on physical appearances. Sad fact. They will go into debt to appear successful. I divorced a guy because he would spend and spend and spend. I'm a saver and that seriously stressed me out.
They say the best partners for savers (like me) are either savers or investors. Luckily for me I found a saver/investor and am so much happier now.
It depends on what you need to be happy.

If batshit means not relying on government or inheritance to take care of you, then that's us! My honey retired in his early 50s and I plan on retiring early. We live simple lives but enjoy ourselves and treat our friends and relatives.
Your aunt recognized loyalty. That is the truth. We have money and no children, and our relatives are no where to be found. Why leave money to people who disregard you when you are alive?
