You really start to wonder, though, what forces are behind these companies to make them act in such an illogical manner. Why would they purposely hire Kaepernick, when he's such a controversial (and largely disliked) character? In my experience, Nike has always sponsored the very best–they chose Jordan, not Dennis Rodman.
Why would they continue to pump out movies panning America? Why did they get rid of Roseanne, but not Maher? Why is Jeff Zucker still working with those ratings–in fact, why did he get a raise?
The only logical explanation is that the people making these devisions stand to lose more by resisting those forces than they do by providing Americans with what they want. It means that the system has been so corrupted and imbalanced that capitalism doesn't work; better to piss off a million customers than a few corrupt oligarchs.
It just shows how close we were to losing it all.
