The ONLY reason for the popular election of senators is that people like Soros can steal popular elections with ease, while lying to the public and saying Democrats always win because everyone wants welfare (and who could challenge that?).
Here's the difference. We didn't pamper our troops and mingle them politically like the final Romans, we kept them on the brink of poverty.
