Theosophical Society Organization book entitled "The Ocean of Theosophy" by William Q. Judge in 1893 from New York & London

Some people mistakenly claim that the first time the swastika was used with an "Aryan" or socialists meaning was in Austria and Germany, among early members of the National Socialist German Workers' Party. They claim that on December 25, 1907, the Order of the New Templars, a secret society founded by [Adolf Joseph] Lanz von Liebenfels, hoisted at Werfenstein Castle (Austria) a flag that bore a swastika.

The swastika was used in the symbol of the Aryan Theosophical Society of New York City, founded in 1883 by Judge. In 1889 members of the group purchased a press and type and founded the Aryan Press as part of the Aryan Branch Theosophical Society. A photograph of the 1893 book "The Ocean of Theosophy" shows that the Aryan Press used a swastika as its symbol. http://rexcurry.net/theosophy-ocean-aryan-press-william-judge1893.JPG

At that time the term "Aryan" was used as a reference a ruling class or race and for the socialist dogma touted by the Theosophical Society and by socialists in general. http://rexcurry.net/george-bernard-shaw-superman-socialist-swastika-socialism.html
