Fox News host Tucker Carlson predicted an "extremely ugly" week for NBC News and its shareholders amid pushback from journalist Ronan Farrow who says the network blocked his reporting on sexual misconduct allegations against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.
Appearing on “Fox and Friends” early Tuesday, Carlson teased forthcoming reports that he said will prove NBC worked to kill Farrow’s story before the New Yorker published his reporting.
“Bottom line, I would not want to be an NBC shareholder right now because I think that network is in for a very rough week, not just because of our report but because of another report from another news organization that is imminent that is going to lay bare some of the things that have been going on there. I think it’s going to be an extremely ugly week for NBC News,” Carlson said.
Carlson defended Farrow’s reporting — which earned him a Pulitzer Prize — and questioned why NBC would block publication of the Weinstein story, as Farrow and his former producer have claimed.
During his Tuesday night show, Carlson said he’ll report evidence that NBC knew Farrow had an on-the-record account of Weinstein’s alleged misconduct.
“That is the threshold they said they needed. They had it. Lots of people within NBC News knew it, they saw it,” he said.
