No doubt, he has been a 1st-Rate Never Trumper but this is not the speech of a Jeff Flake who's trying to sound "Conservative" but is secretly terrified of what's to come, this is a man who's excited about the New American Era.
Listening to the WaPo talking head thots going on about how "there's no way Kavanaugh doesn't get confirmed, UNLESS SOMETHING CRAZY AND UNFORSEEN HAPPENS" it sure seems like there have been rumors of Hail Mary's to stop this confirmation.
Think of this: A Republican Senator is like 1 of 50-some people who stand between the most powerful people in the world and the electric chair. If Ben Sasse was faking his Anti-Trumper tirades to keep himself and his family alive until today, that would be a very saavy play.
