Out if Twitter, Facebook and Google
I think that Facebook is the one that will wink totally out of existence.
Twitter will become semi-regulated
And open up to non-Twitter messaging apps
As a kind of federated messaging system
And Google is mainly infrastructure services
So it will also become regulated
And the services will continue.
Amazon is a bit different
And I believe that a breakup like AT&T is in the cards
The AWS part will become a similar regulated utility to Google
And the retail part will be forced to de-monopolize
So that they will no longer own all commerce
Again, I think Amazon and Taibao
Will be forced to open up APIs
And become more of a federated retail system
Where there is no monopoly
And a retailer can freely move from Amazon to Taibao to supplier X, Y or Z, all using the same APIs.
In fact I think that soon the API themselves will become legislated
So that it will be mandatory for companies offering certain services
To support a defined API where an independent party
Such as the IETF
Actually defines the API.
This is all long overdue.
Now that the global internetwork
Is becoming the heart of human commercial activity
It needs to be fully legislated and regulated
So that predatory monopoly behavior cannot happen
And attempts to build such things
Are punished.
Open Source is going to become a much more serious
And legislated openness.
