Pence may be the enemy within.
Today's anonymous op-ed (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/05/opinion/trump-white-house-anonymous-resistance.html) by a senior Trump admin official used a word I had not before seen in text by Trump admin during his presidency:
We may no longer have Senator McCain. But we will always have his example — a lodestar for restoring honor to public life and our national dialogue. Mr. Trump may fear such honorable men, but we should revere them.
I searched and found these words used by Pence in 2011 (https://www.thedailybeast.com/mike-pence-backs-up-plan-to-functionally-end-the-debt-ceiling):
“The opportunity to pile good ideas on top of legislation that has to pass in some way is profound,” Pence said in 2011. “I think you’ll see House conservatives and Republican leadership use every means at their disposal to make sure that we turn our nation back, that, as we debate a debt ceiling, that we’re turning our nation back toward a lodestar of a balanced budget.”
Odd, isn't it?
