the lie this is all built on is crime prevention. the only crime prevention is defense. you can't hope to disarm everyone so that you cannot be attacked, you can only be prepared if you are attacked. those with the will to do wrong will find the means, by truck, knife, homemade explosive, poison gas, acid, etc. This is not about preventing evil people from causing harm, it is about taking away the tools of defense from those that would use them for that purpose, to more effectively rule them through fear and force.
