“Idlib operation would be a big risk” – Turkey desperately trying to save jihadists in Syria

Damascus’ plan to launch a military operation in Idlib province, the last major terrorist bastion in Syria, pose great risks, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said.

“The regime has decided to attack Idlib… We agree with the exit of the terrorists, but the operation would aim to occupy Idlib province and this entails great risks,” Cavusoglu told a joint news conference with his German counterpart Heiko Maas.

Turkey’s foreign minister said he hopes to examine the situation at the tripartite summit of Russia, Turkey and Iran scheduled for September 7 in Tehran.

RevContent InArticle SOLO

“If there are terrorists in Idlib, we must decide together how to separate them [from the armed opposition], but that does not mean that the whole province should be bombed,” Cavusoglu said.

Idlib province was occupied in 2015 by armed groups, primarily jihadists and especially the terrorist organization Al-Nusra Front who are affiliated with Al-Qaeda. In early 2015, jihadist forces mobilized in Turkey after being armed and trained in the country, and launched an offensive against the Syrian Army, where they overran government-held positions. Since then, with Turkish support, the province has become a jihadist stronghold.

However, in September 2015 the Russian air force intervened in the Syrian conflict. Since then, the Syrian Army has liberated huge swathes of the country, especially around Damascus, in the southern of the country, and ISIS-held parts of the country. With victory after victory occurring, the Syrian Army, with Russian backing, are now making final preparations to liberate the province from jihadist forces.

Part of this massive mobilization includes the Syrian Army’s elite Tiger Forces, 4th Mechanized Units and Republican Guards who have vast experience in not only dealing, but with annihilating jihadist forces throughout Syria. With the imminent liberation of Idlib province, the only areas left out of Syrian government control will be small pockets of ISIS in eastern Syria and areas held by US-backed Kurdish forces.

France ‘ready to strike’ Syria if chemical weapons used during Idlib offensive – army chief

France’s top military chief has said Paris is ready to bomb Syria if chemical weapons are used during the Syrian government’s retaking of Idlib province. It comes a week after Russia warned the US of a pending false flag attack.

“We are ready to strike if chemical weapons were used again,” Armed Forces Chief Francois Lecointre told a small group of reporters Thursday.

“They can be carried out at national level but it’s in our interest to do it with as many partners as possible,” he added.

The threats come a week after the Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov warned top diplomats in Washington that militants in Idlib were planning a false-flag chemical attack, in order to frame the government of Bashar Assad as his forces prepare for an offensive to recapture the northern province.

US President Donald Trump too has warned Assad over the Idlib offensive, tweeting on Monday that his forces must not “recklessly attack” the province. The US earlier stated that it would “retaliate” against any chemical attacks by the Syrian government, using more firepower than it did back in April.

France joined the US and the UK as partners in the April strikes, launching more than 100 missiles at Syrian government targets. The move was in retaliation for an alleged poison gas attack in the city of Douma, 10km northeast of Damascus.

French involvement saw three cruise missiles launched from French Navy frigates deployed in the eastern Mediterranean, while French Air Force Rafale fighter jets launched nine airborne missiles. However, several salvos malfunctioned.

In the aftermath of the strikes, French President Emmanuel Macron defended the coalition’s actions, saying that “history will judge” whether the operation was justified.

Notably, the bombardment was carried out hours before the first experts from the Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons were due to arrive in the area of the suspected assault.

The Western narrative that Damascus was responsible for the alleged gas attack has also been called into question in the months since the April bombing.

An interim report published by specialists from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) said it found no traces of nerve agents at the site of the suspected chemical attack in the Syrian city of Douma.

Western journalists too have countered the mainstream media’s claims. Speaking to citizens of Douma after fighters from the jihadist group Jaish Al-Islam left the city for Idlib in April, the Independent’s Robert Fisk found that many he talked to had “never believed in” gas stories.

Instead, they attributed poison gas claims to stories put out by armed groups.

People Smuggling Ring Smashed as Migrant Death Toll Rises on Mediterranean Sea

A Mediterranean people smuggling ring has been smashed by British and Greek police following a series of raids on the island of Crete.

The smugglers treated people as commodities, trading in their misery and demanding up to five thousand euros to transport them across the sea from Egypt to Crete.

The people would be held in outhouses on farmland and in caves on Crete until money reached the people smugglers in Egypt. After, they would be transported to Italy on rickety boats. It's believed the organized crime gang is responsible for the recent rescue of 60 migrants off the coast of Crete.

"These criminal gangs treat migrants as a commodity to be profited out of — they don't care about keeping them in horrendous conditions or using completely unsuitable or unseaworthy vessels to move them hundreds of miles across the sea," Chris Hogben, head of the UK's National Crime Agency Invigor taskforce said.

Israel’s Fifth Column: Exercising control from inside the government

A Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff once said: ‘If the American people understood what a grip Israel has on our government, they would rise up in arms. Our citizens certainly don’t have any idea what goes on’… An attack on a U.S. Navy ship… Top officials in a secretive office in the Treasury Department… A U.S. ambassador and his senior assistant… Wars for Israel… Where does it all end?

Nothing for Americans, everything for Israel

PART 3

On his official page on the Orthodox Union website, meanwhile, Lightstone doesn’t mention his involvement with Shining City but does mention Ivanka Trump.

“Rabbi Aryeh Lightstone, formerly Regional Director of New York NCSY, was appointed in April 2017 to serve as advisor [sic] to U.S. ambassador to Israel David Friedman,” it states. “Since receiving semicha from RIETS, Rabbi Lightstone has been fully engaged in all forms of communal work. A businessman at heart but a klal [people] person in reality, Rabbi Lightstone infuses his entrepreneurial spirit into all of his programs. Over the years, his programs have gained the acclaim of the likes of Ivanka Trump, Senator Joseph Lieberman and Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office, among many others.”

In June, Im Tirtzu told Haaretz that most of its donors today “are Israelis, but we are pleased to find private donors from around the world as well (individuals and private foundations) who support our important activity and thereby try to strengthen the Jewish and democratic identity of the State of Israel. The guideline in the movement with regard to raising funds is non-acceptance of money from any foreign state entity or foundations that promote delegitimization of Israeli society.”

Haaretz contacted Lightstone several times in June, but he asked not to be interviewed or to discuss his involvement with Shining City.

“I am not associated with them anymore,” he said, adding that media stories at the time about his appointment as an adviser to Friedman were premature. “I don’t have a job at the moment,” he said.

Lightstone did not respond to phone calls from Haaretz this week for this article.

PLOT TWIST: ‘Confidential’ Kavanaugh Emails Released by Cory Booker Were Cleared Before Dramatic Claims of “Spartacus” Moment

Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) released “committee confidential” Kavanaugh documents on Thursday whilst admitting he would be “knowingly violating the rules” and could possibly be ousted from the Senate.

Cory Booker released 12 pages of Kavanaugh emails wherein the Judge discussed racial inequality, including a thread with the subject line, “racial inequality.”

“I am right now, before your process is finished, I am going to release the email about racial profiling, and I understand the penalty comes with potential ousting from the Senate,” Booker said.

The Democrat Senator even bragged that it was the closest he’d ever come to a “Spartacus” moment.

No rules were broken and it was hardly Cory Booker’s “Spartacus” moment.

It turns out the ‘confidential’ Kavanaugh emails Booker released Thursday morning were already agreed to be cleared late last night.

“All of this drama this morning apparently was for nothing and it’s unfortunate,” Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, told reporters after a chaotic start to the third day of Kavanaugh’s hearing, FOX News reported.

FOX News’ Shannon Bream reported, “Senate Judiciary Committee staffers tell our @GriffJenkins that the documents SenBooker released today were already agreed to and cleared late LAST NIGHT. Not clear exactly which senators knew that before Booker publicly announced he was willing to violate policy and release.”

White House reporter for WaPo obtained a statement from Bill Burck, GWB’s records representative who led the review of Kavanaugh’s records.

“We cleared the documents last night after Senator Booker’s staff asked us to.”

FOX News previously reported:

[Senator] Cornyn, at one point, read the Senate rule that says, “Any Senator, officer or employee of the Senate who shall disclose the secret or confidential business or proceedings of the Senate, including the business and proceedings of the committees, subcommittees and offices of the Senate shall be liable, if a Senator, to suffer expulsion from the body; and if an officer or employee, to dismissal from the service of the Senate, and to punishment for contempt.”

An Army Of #Resisters: "Dozens" Of White House Staffers Say "Wish We Had Written NYT Op-Ed"

As was no doubt their intent, the mainstream media has succeeded in overshadowing the Kavanaugh confirmation hearing with a flurry of stories about a mutiny allegedly brewing inside the West Wing that has set more than a few tongues wagging about the possibility of Trump's cabinet invoking the 25th amendment (an eventuality that was once reportedly discussed by former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon). But while White House officials have already vehemently denied the quotes gathered by Bob Woodward in the strategically leaked (to his own newspaper) excerpts from the Watergate reporter's upcoming book, speculation is shifting to who might be the mystery author of a scathing NYT op-ed reportedly penned by a "senior administration official" that portrays Trump as unfit for office.

Fortunately for Trump, several voices of moderation have come forward to condemn the attacks (amid speculation that the Times' "senior" source may not be so senior after all). But this incipient backlash didn't deter Axios (a media org that, like the Times, is notoriously critical of Trump) from piling on with a story about President Trump's intensifying distrust of those in his inner circle. Trump, Axios claims, is "deeply suspicious of much of the government he oversees" from federal agency grunts all the way up to those privileged few with unfettered access to the Oval Office. The piece even goes so far as to quote yet another anonymous "senior administration official" as saying that "a lot of us are wishing we'd been the writer."

"I find the reaction to the NYT op-ed fascinating - that people seem so shocked that there is a resistance from the inside," one senior official said. "A lot of us [were] wishing we’d been the writer, I suspect … I hope he [Trump] knows - maybe he does? - that there are dozens and dozens of us."

And in case you couldn't figure out why this is important, allow Axios to elaborate:

Why it matters: Several senior White House officials have described their roles to us as saving America and the world from this president.

A good number of current White House officials have privately admitted to us they consider Trump unstable, and at times dangerously slow.

But the really deep concern and contempt, from our experience, has been at the agencies — and particularly in the foreign policy arena.

In what was perhaps the most bombastic claim included in the piece, Trump reportedly once carried around with him a list of suspected leakers. "The snakes are everywhere but we're getting rid of them," he reportedly told Axios.

For some time last year, Trump even carried with him a handwritten list of people suspected to be leakers undermining his agenda.

"He would basically be like, 'We’ve gotta get rid of them. The snakes are everywhere but we’re getting rid of them,'" said a source close to Trump.

Trump would often ask staff whom they thought could be trusted. He often asks the people who work for him what they think about their colleagues, which can be not only be uncomfortable but confusing to Trump: Rival staffers shoot at each other and Trump is left not knowing who to believe.

And just in case you haven't read enough about Trump's purported obsession with "snakes" - here's some more.

"When he was super frustrated about the leaks, he would rail about the 'snakes' in the White House," said a source who has discussed administration leakers with the president.

"Especially early on, when we would be in Roosevelt Room meetings, he would sit down at the table, and get to talking, then turn around to see who was sitting along the walls behind him."

"One day, after one of those meetings, he said, 'Everything that just happened is going to leak. I don’t know any of those people in the room.' … He was very paranoid about this."

All of this reinforces the idea that Trump truly believes that there is an organized "deep state" conspiracy to take him down. Of course, what Axios neglects to say, is that he's not wrong.

Donbass Leader Zakharchenko: A Hero Is Dead. Killing the Minsk Peace Initiative. Kiev Troop Movements Near Donbass

The cruel assassination of Alexander Zakharchenko, leader of the Donetsk Republic, in Donetsk on August 31 by elements of the Kiev regime’s forces backed by NATO, and the wounding of many others in the bomb blast that took his life, confirms what I wrote three years ago, that the Minsk 2 agreement signed in February 2015 to try to establish peace in Ukraine was a rotting corpse. Russia, ever more hopeful than I that reason and the desire for peace would prevail stuck to it nevertheless and consistently called for adherence to its terms despite facing obstruction at every turn. The murder of the leader of the Donetsk Republic confirms that not only has the corpse been rotting on the battle fields of the Donbass all this time, it is now picked apart by the carrion birds of prey that want war with the Donbass and with Russia and only its skeleton remains. It’s time to bury it.

Some NATO members such as Germany paid lip service to the Minsk agreement and insisted it be complied with but always complaining that it was Russia that was not pushing the Donbass Republics to bend to NATO’s will. But in fact the Donbass Republics tried as they could to comply with the terms under very difficult circumstances and constants provocations, attacks and assassinations of its leadership.

UK Grooming Gangs: Majority of Telford Sex Abuse Referrals Involved Children Under 15

The majority of referrals for suspected child grooming and sex abuse cases in Telford are against girls under the age of 15, according to data obtained by the BBC.

The Freedom of Information Request data obtained by the broadcaster revealed that 268 referrals have been made to West Mercia Police since an investigation was launched into child sexual exploitation (CSE) in the West Midlands town.

Of the 268, 181 of the alleged victims are under the age of 15 — below the age of sexual consent — with the majority of cases being girls between the ages of 12 and 15.

Since 2016, the CSE team has arrested 56 people, resulting in 29 charges. Inquiries are ongoing.

The investigations come after The Mirror broke a story in March that as many as 1,000 children may have been groomed, raped, trafficked for sex, and even murdered by gangs of mostly Muslim men of South Asian extraction in the town over a 40-year period, making it potentially the worst grooming scandal in British history.

One victim was Lucy Lowe, who was groomed and raped by Azhar Ali Mehmood. At the age of 14, she had given birth to his child, and at 16, again pregnant, Lucy, her sister, and her mother were killed in a house fire started by then-26-year-old Mehmood in August 2000. Mehmood was jailed in 2001.

Fierce criticism has been levelled against local authorities for failing to act, with Telford MP Lucy Allan warning in May that police ignored the large-scale sexual abuse.

Like the similar Rotherham and Rochdale grooming gang cases, authorities allegedly operated in a culture of political correctness, cover-ups, and victim blaming.

Whistleblowers revealed that some cases against rape suspects were dropped because pursuing the court orders was considered “too much trouble”, and a leaked internal police memo claimed that “in most cases the sex is consensual” — despite many alleged victims being below the age of consent.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is also said to have sent one parent a letter saying that they would not prosecute his underaged daughter’s rapist because she had “consented” to sex with her abuser.

Like the other mass-grooming scandals, it is believed the majority of victims were white British girls — although a follow-up report by The Mirror pointed to there being a “raft” of victims of Indian and Pakistani heritage, as well, “who have kept quiet to save their families being shunned”.

Ansar Ali, of the group Together Against Grooming, told The Mirror in August that “Research has shown that only around a third of victims will be represented by official figures. But women from Asian communities are far less likely to come forward.”

“There are undoubtedly a disproportionate number of Pakistani men involved, but they have no loyalty to any one community,” Mr Ansar claimed.
